The 2003 National Championship event for Nacra, Prindle and Inter and now Formula 18 catamarans is scheduled for October 13th through 16th in Pensacola Beach, Florida, according to Jack Young of Performance Catamarans. Columbus Day starts the racing, however registration will begin Sunday evening, followed by a Welcome Party and Skippers meeting, sponsored by Performance Catamarans. Racing will begin Monday morning, October 13th and continue through October 16th, weather permitting.

Participants will enjoy the clear, emerald waters and ivory white sand that will set the stage for a week of fun and serious racing. The winds can vary from an offshore sea breeze to a westerly wind of 15 to 20 mph. Top sailors from all over the world will join together to assure hard-core racing.

Pensacola Beach is a vacationers paradise. For the ground crew and families, the area offers unique shops and restaurants. One can enjoy lunch on the boardwalk or view the area by cruising down the bike path. Fort Picken’s offers some of the area’s history and guarantees an enjoyable afternoon of sightseeing. Activities are scheduled for every night of the event and the participating sailors are sure to enjoy a memorable sailing vacation.

The actual race site will be Pensacola Beach at Quietwater Beach. An alternate site will be Fort Pickens Gate. The host hotel is the Dunes which is centrally located and within walking distance of all events. See registration form for other accommodations and details.

Registration is $250 for double handed boats and $175 for any single handers for anyone registered before September 15th. Thereafter, an extra $50 will be added.

Details will be mailed to Class Association members soon, but in the meantime if you need further information, go to www.performancecat.com.
