The Milt Ingram Race
Pierpont Bay Yacht Club presents the 41st Annual Milt Ingram Trophy Race in the Pacific Ocean, offshore from Ventura, California.
This forty two nautical mile race begins 3 miles from the harbor entrance at the Mandalay Buoy and proceeds to Platform Grace (oil derrick) and Anacapa Island, leaving them to port. It then leaves the Ventura Harbor Whistle Buoy to starboard and finishes in the Ventura Harbor entrance channel.
The beachcat class starts last and spends the entire race passing the other boats, chasing the bigger catamarans. You’ll sail through the Santa Barbara Channel twice, catching great wind, sometimes enough for double trapeze. See attached notice of race from last year for more details. I’ll update it to current when PBYC publishes it. Bring a flat-earth friend with you and show them how the sea bulges and hides the shore from the west end of Anacapa Island on our round planet.
