Bill, Gary Willcox's article on rudder connector replacement, with all those photos of his wife doing all the work reminded me of the fisherman's ad. Wanted: Woman who can clean fish, repair outboard motors, and cook on a camping stove. Must have own boat. Please send photo of boat. Rev. Kim Miller Wagga Wagga, Australia Looking for the Rules I just got around to reading the June issue of OTW. I need a copy of the new rules. In looking thru the list of books OTW gets credit for thru Amazon, I did not see this book. If one is available and you can include it in the OTW list, I would be happy to purchase via OTW so you get the credit. By the way, the June issue is great, as always. Thanks for the long hours and hard work that go into putting OTW together. Jay Gorday This may not be available through Amazon, and I appreciate your attempt to purchase through OTW. For an online version, a printed version, and an interactive multimedia version, see: http://sailing.org. This information is near the bottom of the page. Hope this helps, and thanks for the compliments. -ed. |
Another Missile Fan
I just wanted to let you know I enjoyed your Ultimate PWC Repellent page. I worked for a little while on the AMRAAM (AIM-120) program and recently saw some pictures of the AMRAAM mounted on a Humvee. I was telling someone about the photos (which are real, by the way) when he told me about your page. Roger Thanks for the compliments. Now... what kind of deal can you get me on an AMRAAM? Please include shipping in your quote. -ed. Rudder Cam Repair I was reading the article on rudder cam repair, (AFTER having done it) and I wanted to pass on what I found: I was able to BURN out the remains of the delrin bolt after boring it out with a 1/2 inch drill bit. I used a simple propane torch (no oxygen tank) I just propped the flame into the hole, and let it cook about half an hour. This did absolutely no harm to the aluminum casting. The hole was cleaned out and the threads were nearly perfect. I did the same technique of cleaning it up with a bolt (too cheap to buy a tap) I love the Ezine, keep up the good work. Brisk Winds, Mark Chimel Thanks for the tip, Mark. Sounds less expensive than buying a tap set. -ed. |
