Catamaran Sailing |
Bill Mattson Check out the smile on our cover. You'll only see a smile like that on the face of a sailor trapped out on a cat. (Okay, there's other places where you see smiles like that, but this is a family site.) This is our first issue of volume 2 and I can't believe we are in our second year. Make sure and check out my article on keeping this site up and going. If you have ever considered moving to Texas, you may change your mind after reading Geoff von Wollenberg's article on an encounter with bad weather. You may remember Geoff's "Galveston Experience" that appeared in our October issue. Apparently the weather's a bit quick to change down there. One minute your boat is sitting on the beach on a gentle Sunday afternoon. The next minute, it's upside down back in the parking lot across the street. Also this month, Mark Michealson provides a safety checklist for ocean sailors. Once again, a heartfelt thanks to Mark for his support of this site through article submissions as well as advertising. William Wallick provides another great book review. If you won't be sailing this winter, you might as well be reading sailing books. Check out On The Bookshelf for a preview before spending your hard earned bucks. Kim Miller is at it again in the humor department. I had fun reading these reflections on pitchpoling. If you've ever pitchpoled, I'm sure you will relate. If you haven't, believe me, this article is the closest you will want to get to one. Sail fast, sail safe, William R.
