MilSpec Meal-Ready-to-Eat (MRE) |
 We used these MREs on our last two expeditions to Santa Cruz Island. While they cannot compare to a conventionally cooked meal, they are ideal for extended catamaran voyages where weight and volume are an issue. Through the use of a MRE heater (purchased separately), you add just a few ounces of water and the main course is steaming hot in minutes. Main courses available include Chicken with Rice, Pasta and Vegetables, Beef Stew, Cheese Torellini, and others. The main courses can be purchases separately, or purchase an entire meal package which contains items such as Applesauce, Crackers and Jelly, Cookies, Fruit Bars, Salt/Pepper, Drink Mix, and Instant Coffee. Available at your local military surplus store, or from various sources on the internet. Type "Milspec Rations" in your favorite search engine. Remember: The heaters are sold separately. You'll need one heater for every hot course. Make sure to ask for them. |
