Bill Mattson What a month! We've had to upgrade our ISP account to handle the extra traffic charges. Also, we've received some really great articles, and will be going back to a monthly issue. Our domain registration was still in the works at press time, so look for a new URL in the near future. And for gosh sakes, don't miss our T-Shirt offer. It's the only way we will be able to pay for all this stuff! Have a case of tiller tug? What the heck is "weather helm" anyway? Kim Miller explains it all in another one of his excellent articles full of the concise explanations and diagrams. If you have problems with helm, or are thinking about raking rudders or masts, don't miss this one! It wasn't just a day sail. Bill Kosar gives an account of a 200 mile trek up Lake Ontario in a Hobie Wave. It's always been an ambition of mine to board the Hobie and actually take a trip somewhere. This is an excellent example of just that. Neil Thursby has given you a challenge. Tell the world about where you sail! Neil starts the series with an article on sailing in the United Kingdom. I think the photo is pretty awesome. (That's Neil on our cover as well). Dave Stearns is back with another Captain's Log. Looks like Captain Sterno found a really good deal on a boat. I look forward to his future adventures. This month, Barbara Seideneck sits in for William Wallick with a book review of "Maiden Voyage", which details Tania Aebi's round-the-world sail. This one is on my reading list, Barbara. One last note: I upgraded my system and spent considerable time recovering some lost data. I believe I recovered everything that was submitted to me in the way of articles. If you submitted an article, and do not see it in this issue or in the "Next Month" section, let me know. Keep 'em coming! If you're attending the Pacific Coast Championships in Santa Barbara on 11/8, look for me. (I'll be the boat in front of you.) ;) Sail fast, sail safe, William R. Frank Pineau Well I hope everyone reading this has had more sailing this year than I have. Seems like a million things have come up this year and has severely cramped my sailing season. Bill has been able to get in quite a bit of racing however, while I'm sitting on dry land. Bill has also been working very hard on the OTW T-shirts. Hopefully we can raise enough money to off set the server costs he's incurred with this endeavor. I'm sure everyone will appreciate the graphics, as they are straight from the OTW philosophy corner. It looks like this months issue is shaping up nicely. I'll close now, and let you enjoy the issue. If your all good, next issue I'll show you how you can really hurt yourself on a trapeze wire. Frank Pineau, Editor frp@pacificnet.net The Adventures of Jesse Martin Sailing in Light Winds Painting on a Boat Name Mixing and using Epoxy Alternative Deck Port Installation On The Wire is always looking for content, and welcomes material applicable all levels of sailing expertise.
