Bill Mattson Our new URL is in place. You can now tell your friends to find us at www.catsail.com. Note that the delay in confirming this URL has also delayed the printing of our T shirts. I am still committed to making the 6 week delivery window. I appreciate the patience of those who have ordered shirts. If all goes as planned, they should be shipping next week. We've also expanded our horizons a bit, calling ourselves "The Ezine for Catamaran Sailors". We will always be loyal to Hobie, but think that it best serves the sport to occasionally run articles on other boats. In this regard, our top story this month is a story that Kim Miller put together on the adventures of Jesse Martin. This story starts with a 1,000 kilometer journey on a 14' ft. catarmaran, and continues as this young man plans to be the youngest sailor to circumnavigate the world solo. Kim put a considerable amount of work into this story. If you enjoy this story as much as I, please take time to drop a note to Kim. Remember Chris Bolton and his prior attempts at towing boats long distances? This month Chris tells his story about a third attempt. In a surprising twist of fate, he actually makes it this time. Another enjoyable read from Chris. A spinnaker on a Hobie 16? See the photographic evidence, as Roy Tally tells the story of installating a chute on David Hendrick's boat "Maine Sale". Look close at that spinnaker picture, and you'll see the "Maine Sale" name on the side. David Hendrick tells us how to put a name on your boat in a way that is handsome, durable, and inexpensive. David also gives some good tips on the use of Marine Tex epoxy for repairing small dings in your hulls. Some good ideas here! Thanks to all who have contributed articles! With this great stuff, we are back to monthly issues. Keep 'em coming! Sail fast, sail safe, William R. Mattson, Editor mattson@earthlink.net |
