It is the largest natural lake in the state (approximately 5 miles x 5 miles). This is a resort area (Iowa Great Lakes/Okiboji) but Spirit Lake has very little power boat/jet ski traffic as it is considered a fishing lake. Water is usually clear and there are many sand beaches to use. There are several regular boat ramps or you can launch from the swimming beach on the northwest end of the lake.
