Water Conditions: Good
Launch facilities: Good
Beach conditions: Good
Traffic conditions: Good
Safety: Poor

Charges: FREE

About the place:
The bay is located approx 9 hours past the Mexicali border. Cross the border and continue south to fishing village of San Felipe. Here you need to gas up and get ice and last minute supplies. Continue to Puertocitios. Here the paved road ends and the DIRT road starts. For the next 40 miles you will eat dust. We have done this several times towing my Hobie Cat behind my 2WD l984 Mazda truck. Never had a problem beyond a flat tire or a dented muffler. You can tell when you have reached the Bay because there is a dirt run way and a gas station/restaurant/store. Now is a good time to fill your tank at $2.00 a gallon. It is expensive, but beats walking! Turn LEFT (east) and take the dirt road that is on the SOUTH side of the dirt runway all the way to the beach. You will see 10 palapas. Pick an empty one. The charge is ten dollars a day. The palapas are great. You can hang up your hammock, put your tent underneath them, lots of room... perhaps 15' across. Each additional vehicle is five dollars extra. For 5 dollars more, the local care taker will bring you 50 gallon drum of water. Good for washing and bathing, but NOT for drinking. Each palapa has its own outhouse. Far enough away so the flies do not bother you. A short walk down the beach is a small, local owned restaurant, with good food and cold beers at a reasonable price. The best is the wind. It is perfect for sailing! Even the fishing is good! Enough... Any questions you can E Mail me or call me. I am always looking for fellow sailors to caravan down with. My girlfriend, two dogs and I will be heading down again in the Spring. Bill...760.366.3470
