Wind Conditions: Excellent Water Conditions: Excellent Launch facilities: Good Beach conditions: Good Traffic conditions: Excellent Safety: Poor Charges: none About the place: sands beach is public and allows parking on the beach(!). very low-key, ramp launching available 100 yards away. the beach is best (sandy) at high tide, muddy but usable when low. summer sea breezes funnel in from the atlantic 12 miles away, building from light to 15+kn almost every afternoon. sail out to sandy beaches on the atlantic or sail up river toward scenic beaufort bay for a more protected ride. port royal is a very small town next to beaufort, sc, stop and ask directions to the sands.
