1980 Nacra 18 Square Meter with tilt trailer. An 18′ long boat made for single handing. The beam is 11′ wide so one person has the leverage to hold the boat down. Due to the extra width the boat has to be tilted on its side for legal trailering. As opposed to other tilt trailers that use narrow wheel spacing, this trailer has a wheel track of 8′ wide for optimal stability. This trailer is more stable for long trips to events. Also, most tilt trailers have the boat way off to one side when the boat is in the down position. This trailer has the boat centered on the trailer in the down position. The trailer has been galvanized for long life as well. The boat is a joy to sail, a good performer. Great for those situations for when you want to be competitive without a crew. This is the full size Nacra 5.5 18 square cat, not the earlier version made with shorter 5.2 hulls. A few shotos are of similar boats. For a video of a new one in action go to Bing Videos
The dealer converted to an internal halyard to reduce the halyard windage on the mast. The masthead is more aero, slightly so. The original owner with help from the dealer did a stern tuck raising the sterns to help keep the bows up and it helps the boat spin through a tack.
