CATS TO THE CAPE
Our annual open sail from the Morehead City, NC waterfront to Cape Lookout is Saturday, June 27th. The sail is for catamarans and is about 8 miles of ocean sailing each way. Check out last year’s event on Facebook at Sail Carteret. Or the video here: https://vimeo.com/99466750
Boats can be set up on the beach Friday evening, we will have a dutch treat dinner/drinks at a local restaurant after the boats are set up.
Lunch will be provided at the Cape.
Cost: $40 per two person boat. This is to offset the cost of 2 lunches and 2 (awesome) tshirts.
The plan is to leave 11th Street beach, MHC, by 10 am and head to Cape Lookout, hang out there for a couple of hours for lunch, beverages and fun and then head back to 11th Street. This is not a race, but you know the deal, if there are two sailboats on the same water, it is a race.
The routing will be decided in the morning based on the day's conditions ( wind and waves etc). Probably have a skippers and crew meeting about 8:30 am.
We welcome non-boat owner crew as well but space will be limited and based on the numbers of boats available.
If you are planning on bringing a catamaran, please reply (contact at the bottom of this post) with:
1. Name and contact info (email and phone)
2. Type of boat(s) your are bringing
3. Number of crew(s) including yourself
4. Number of "open" crew spaces you are willing to provide
If you do not have a boat and are not assigned a boat and want to participate, please reply with:
1. Name and contact info
2. Indicate you are "crew without boat"
If you own a power boat and would like to volunteer as a chase boat, possibly bringing cooler and food out with you, please reply with:
1. Name and contact info
2. Type of boat
3. Number of any open passenger spaces you are willing to provide
