I came across a really nice 4.3, but it needs a new trampoline and I am struggling to determine if it’s going to be a nightmare. 

We just moved to Newport, NC and are looking for a place to put our Nacra 500 for the summer so we do not have to mast/unmast it every time.

Does anyone know a place on Harlowe creek or Morehead city or Atlantic Beach, NC where we can actually do that?

I’m posting to draw attention to some SC19 stuff I just listed on the classifieds. I realize these boats are less common and the fleet (and sailors) are aging. 

I’m on my third. SC17, SC19, and now SC19x. Our SC19 with standard 28’ 9” mast was wrecked in a windstorm a year ago. Sadly, the mast and hulls were damaged beyond repair…. so I disassembled the boat, and I’m parting it out. 

I’m in Minnesota. I’ve sold some stuff on FB Marketplace both locally and nationally, but have now listed the tramp, Calvert main sail and daggerboards on here as well. These parts were not on the boat at the time of the storm and are in really nice shape. I think it’s priced reasonably, but willing to negotiate.  I’ve got additional pictures and videos.

The organizers of the legendary catamaran race, The Worrell 1000, have announced the event's return, officially scheduled for 2028.

Following the 2024 event, the organizers elected to take an operational pause to address administrative challenges. Acknowledging a period of silence on public platforms and media channels, the newly reorganized leadership team has spent the interim months quietly executing a top-down restructuring to ensure the race's long-term survival and integrity.

"We know our community, sponsors, and media partners have been waiting for answers, and we deeply appreciate their patience during this time," said John Williams, newly appointed Board Member and Race Officer. "We've taken the needed time to work on the administrative fundamentals, and we are returning with total structural alignment, absolute transparency, and the organizational support this historic race deserves."

With a legacy spanning over half a century, the Worrell 1000 remains a cornerstone of the international catamaran racing community. The leadership team is actively re-engaging with past participants, local municipalities, and corporate partners to build a robust, multi-year runway leading up to the 2028 event.

About The Worrell 1000 Race
Born from a bar bet between brothers back in 1974, Mike Worrell had a vision to create a premier catamaran long distance race, known for its demanding courses that would attract the best sailors from around the world. Running annual races from 1976-1989, there was then a 6-year absence, with races returning in 1997 and continuing until 2002. With financial issues, broken promises and the passing of Mike Worrell in 2010, the event faded away. A small group of dedicated sailors and past Worrell race staff successfully revived the event in 2019 and enjoyed additional events in 2022, and 2024, which celebrated 50 years and the "Spark that Lit The Flame", referencing the 1974 bar bet that started it all.

I bought it in May of '24 - would this be considered a normal lifespan for this piece of rigging when used in saltwater?  Any opinions on Salty Dog ($65) vs. Murrays ($115) quality?

I am aware of a 2016 NACRA 570 that would be a considerable upgrade to the 1984, but at age 72, I wonder how many years of cat sailing realistically remain.  It's been a long time since the trapeze was a place I wanted to hang out.  Anyway, it's a thought.  For now, I'm kind of in mourning.

Dad grew up during the Depression in East Chicago, IN.  His first boat ride was a troop ship going to North Africa.  His parents only boat ride was in the early 1900's from Poland.  

Mom's first ride was probably with Dad in the early 1950's.  She grew up in Central Illinois and her parents probably were never on a boat.  But I may have gotten my interest in sailing from her ancestors who came over by sail in the mid 1700's.
