Hull deck plates

Two questions about hull deck plates:
Can they be removed to have access to the inside walls, e.g when installing backing plates for connectors to a front tramp.

The antiglide surface; how to retain this when sanding and repainting?

Thanks,
Dan
Are you asking about the factory deck or round deck plates like these?

Sorry, forgot to say I'm talking about a P18-2; the deck of the hulls with the textured surface, not the round deck plates. The latter are easy to replace.

Yes they can, go to www.catsailor.com and search Prindle 19, there is a person going through the process now and he has posted some photos. I also recall other posts there about thye same subject
Here's a great article in Hobie Hotlines that details a process using a silicone mold to retexture a repaired deck. Check it out!

Thanks I can't find it on www.catsailor.com though, tried the search function too. Where am I supposed to look?
Open forum page 8 "tell me about the Prindle 19" by turbo cat. You will have to join catsailor to view any pictures. It is a free site with tons of great information. You can ask any cat related questions and will responses from the best cat sailors in the world.
removal of the entire deck lid for a single point of access might be discouraged. you are looking at scraping apart the joint of the lid from the hulls (with a screw driver or chisel) and HOPING not to do damage that will need repair.

It is do-able but i would think a simple 4" or 5 (or 6) port would be much less drama, work etc. Not to mention it will then offer you storage.

I had 2 ports that i used to access my front hulls to add a simple eyestrap (with backing plate) for my front tramp tiedown.

This is the inside of a Mystere 6.0. (deck lid) and chain plate. i wouldn't want to remove that.

You rang?

I will be posting more pictures tonight. I got my modded decks in from performance and will post up some pics. I used a putty knife and a hammer! very carefully.

The thread should be up top on the forum tonight after i update it.
as per the texture... there are textured paints, non-slip additives and/or ACE sells white texture in a spray can. works well...
