Nacra 5.2 Rigging Lengths

Does anyone know what the the standard lengths are for the various pieces of standing rigging on a Nacra 5.2? i.e. Shrouds, Forestay, Bridles, Diamond Wires.

I want to replace my existing rigging but left everything except the forestay out at the cottage for the winter (yeah bonehead move). I know Murray's sells stock rigging but it is all coated and I want to take advantage of the off season sales at some of the other sellers.

Any help would be appreciated because I don't have access to the cottage in the winter (bad road and no snow clearing).

Regards,
Dave

I've got new shrouds on mine, and its in the driveway. I'll try to measure them tomorrow....although I'm not sure a good way to measure a cable that long.

Yurdle,
By yourself would be a trick, you usually need 2 people and a tape measure.

Even if you can only get me the lengths of the bridle wires that would be a huge help! My shrouds are actually in pretty good shape, but my bridle wires were damaged at the end of last season. That and I'm converting to a roller furling jib so I can figure out the reduced lengths if I have the forestay and bridle wire lengths.

Thanks for the help!! If you ever need any bits and pieces for your boat let me know, I have quite a few spares of various things!

Regards,
Dave

Why the roller furler? You adding a spin?

i've been thinking of adding a furler to my 5.2 so will interested to see how you go. in my case it would just be for depowering the rig, sometimes can get hairy screaming back into the beach between the moored boats when people, who should know better, are swimming between them
Exactly for the reason Erice was thinking about it. I tend to sail solo quite a bit and would like the option to depower when things get hairy. I also take a lot of people who have never been on a sailboat for rides around the lake. Furling the jib will let me declutter the sheets a bit and not scare the crap out of my passenger.

I got a used Hobie furling drum and a Harken swivel so I just need a shorter forestay with a pigtail (and a few small bits) to make it work.

I will put a cleat on the adjuster for the downhaul but I haven't decided how to work the actual downhaul. I'm debating with just reusing my wire halyard and downhaul or going with an Aussie system (3:1 at the top of the forestay). The only thing keeping me from going Aussie is the fact that you need about 80' of line for the halyard and then have to wither store it in the forestay or sister clip it and pack it away. I will take pics when I actually have it done (in about 4 months, after the deep freeze ends, -40C/-40F this morning).

On the topic of spinnakers someone on the want adds page is selling a complete system off an F17 for relatively cheep ($400 for the pole/snuffer kit plus $150-$800 for a sail depending on which one you want). That would work SWEET on a 5.2, exactly the right size - wish I had the cash!

Dave

That is bob curry. he was a sailmaker and knows his stuff!
Awesome! Hopefully one of us can snag that for our boat! That is a smokin deal compared to how much they cost brand new!

I measured 47" hole to hole on the bridle wires. They're still attached to my boat, though, and I should be able to get a little more precision once I've removed them. That said, I'm not off by much if I'm off at all.

Great! That should be close enough for what I'm doing. The forestay adjuster can make up for a bit of play in the measurements!
