Please reply if you see this post

I've moved TheBeachcats.com to a new server this weekend and want to find out who is seeing the new vs old.

If you can read this post you are in the new world. Please reply and let me know any problems you notice.

Thanks,

Looks just like the old server!
When I'm here:
http://www.thebeachcats.com/classifieds/showcat.php/cat/1
there's no banner or way to get back to the main page?!

Thanks for letting me know, take a look I think I've fixed that issue.

Everyone please look around, TheBeachcats.com is a very large and complicated site (4 seperate databases and tens of thousands of files) so it's hard to check everything.

Due to the way the Internet works some people aren't going to see the new site right away, but if you can read this you have arrived. icon_cool

Thanks for all the feedback, looks like things have have settled down and most ISP's are showing the new site. A few stubborn ones still have the old IP in their cache, I actually had to switch the DNS servers on my local machine to OpenDNS instead of the ATT DNS to see the new server.

Now back to our regularly scheduled beachcats discussion.

Most things seem to work. I did notice that some photos I included in a post vanished. You cannot view them even by selecting, "view image".

There were two photos posted, linked from my album. I can no longer see them in the post, nor can I edit it. I went back tot he album, deleted the pictures, then tried to replace them, it won't do it. It seems to grind away as normal, but when finished it returns me to another album page, where normally I would expect to be returned to my album, & the note "items saved"

I can see the site, but only via the IP address
http://173.205.126.48 not via the name
http://www.thebeachcats.com
I assume that will get fixed in a couple days as the DNS name propagates through the routers.

Yes, it's a frustrating situation. I did everything possible to shorten the transition but there are some darn stuborn ISP's out there that seem to ignore everything and cache anyway.

Doing a check of major ISP's there are still some that look like they won't update for a while.

UK: PIPEX A=74.208.144.7 [TTL=2d 10h 27m 55s]
US: FrontierNet, California, A=74.208.144.7 [TTL=4d 21h 14m 50s]
US: FrontierNet, California, A=74.208.144.7 [TTL=4d 7h 55m 42s]
US: FrontierNet, West Virgin A=74.208.144.7 [TTL=3d 15h 43m 21s]
US: Sympatico #1 A=74.208.144.7 [TTL=2d 4h 5m 4s]

If anyone has one of these ISP's I would seriously consider changing your local DNS to OpenDNS becuase those are seriously broken.

Yes, that's the one. I tried to fix things about 16:00 eastern Std time today. It let me delete the 3 original pictures, but wouldn't "add new items".
I'll try it again.
Just tried again at 22:45, seemed to work fine. I reposted & added the pictures, seems fine now.
