unfortunately not the one I am looking for. I would like a 6" round hatch with a handle that pops up to open the hatch or lays flat in a countersink. It also needs to be able to hold a storage bag
I saw some kayak hatches that were close but had a hinge on the back side of the hatch. I would prefer a flush deck if possible

thanks any way and the quest continues
Looks like you have a Hobie 16--if you are thinking about putting hatches on the decks in front of the front beam--don't do it. You will take a way a lot of your hull's structural strength.

A lot of people install them on the decks infront of the beam to stiffen soft hulls. Bad idea.

If you have to have hatches, install them between the pylons.
What you need is a pretty standard item available from a Hobie Dealer or Murrays.com . There is a kit with the hatch and mounting supplies. I just happen to have one I'm going to use to replace mine.

Here is an article about installing deck ports in a Hobie 16 with tips and pictures.

Here's the cat bags that fit into the ports and rest on the lip built in to the port.

I just got a prindle 18-2 and am looking for a very specific model hatch with a flip up handle. I could use a standard one like pictured above but was hopeing for a fancy handle to make opening a lot easier

this is close to what I want but I don"t like the hinge sticking up on top. I know they exist as I saw them on some of the boats I sail with and since so many of those folk are on here, one of them will come to my rescue once again I hope!!!

I found it at murrys
these look cool so I hope they are worth the trouble

I looked at using the new Hobie "Twist n Seal" hatches as a replacement for the standard screw-in after losing a couple of lids overboard.

Had to sail back from Horn Island with Duct Tape covering the 6 inch hole when my crew managed to spin a cover into the drink on the way out to the Island.

These hinge open, but that means they do have a small raised hinge, not total flush like the others. Also, the reason I didn't use them is they have a slightly bigger "footprint" so they overlap the flattened area on the Hobie 18 meant for the ports, so the edges would be unsupported unless you built up a base.
