Well me and a fellow forum member Golfdad75 took my new used getaway out today and I have to say it was a blast. Without his help I would have been lost trying to set up the first time. It really is nice to have forum members that do not mind taking time out of there day to help a newbie. Thanks Terry. There are only three things I need advice on. 1) Something to help stepping the mast. I have a bad back and I can see myself hurting it again . I know hobie sells mast steppers but is there any other options? 2) Is there a way to transport the boat with the rudders attached? With the way the mast sits on the rear cross member for the trampoline during transport you have to remove the rudders. Is there another option? 3) what is the easiest wat to get the boat back on the trailer without a launch? I am picking up a set of cat trax tomorrow. Will these help? Thanks in advance for your help.

This works on my nacra. Just a piece of PVC pipe.

Why is that not recommended?

since you are mainly trailoring local to launch site, i would keep rudders on but if its a long haul take them off. here is a pic of my mast bracket, its fast and easy to use. go to members albums and click on "prindle 16 hull repair and paint" find this pic and click on it a second time for a closer look(larger image). note 1/2" line tied around rudders and castings to keep rudders up during trailoring.

The bouncing around will wear out all the moving attachment points.
I leave my rudders on, tie them down so they don't swing.
I also use bungee cords on each tiller arm pulling down on the forward end. This will keep the rudders from bouncing around.

store bought, previous owner...can't help you there, but sure there out there...makes trailoring that much faster.

I think I am going to try and use a piece of PVC pipe. Now the hard part is finding a short piece of pipe.I cant see buying a 8ft stick for 10 inches.

all you need is a pvc coupling, 4" or 6". I've used a 4" coupling for years trouble free.

I appreciate it but I ended up finding a piece at my fathers house. Carl Gray park, what is this? Is it a place to sail? I am familiar with St. Andrews but not Carl Gray.
