Sailing at Penascola "Big Lagoon "

I have reserved a camp site at Big Lagoon State Park for Labor Day weekend. You can put your mast up at the campsite and pull the boat to the ramp.

Some times you can back your trailer up to this little beach and slide your boat off.

Or launch the boat at the ramp and walk it around the pier to the beach to put up the sails.

From here you can sail to the spoil island at Pensacola Pass.

If you sail out of the pass and head east about 1 mile you can see some WW2 guns at Ft. Pickens that used to protect the pass.

Come back in the bay and head to Key Sailing for lunch at Surf Burger.

There are 31 other sites available at this time for 3 nights Labor Day weekend. Of the sites left you can only drive with the mast up from sites 7 and 14. There will be room to leave your boat at my site if 7 and 14 are gone.

If I wasnt going to Panama city next week I would be joining you there. I didnt even know that place was there. Campsites 7 & 14 would they hold a motohome or are they tent only?
In order to drive with the mast up you have to go the wrong way on the camp ground road. I have done this for over 5 years and only had one ranger say anything. Since you only drive out once in the morning the next day the crew pushed the boat the the wrong way and I met them at the y in the road. You can use any camp site with a number of 14 or less. Motor homes are OK.
There are still 9 sites available for Labor Day weekend. Site 6 is a mast up to the boat ramp site.

I have a newbie cat sailor on an old Hobie 16 that is going to be there. I have taught him how to right it. He has sailed on lasers.
