Hi guys,

I'll split this from my other post, as it is a different subject really.

I've recently brought a Windrush 14 (mk1) that the seller was less than honest about the condition of, and am now trying to work through the best solution to get out in it without spending a huge amount of cash (at least for the time being).

There are a few things I need to sort out, which I will list below in the (my opinion) order of importance. I really want to get out soon, or it might never happen!

1. Mast rigging -
- Now I've had some advice on this, but am still a little unsure. Best to check below first first where I went into a bit more detail:

Based on what I've learnt there, it would seem I have the original rigging (which is fine, its in ok order) - but there are no chain plates/pins/turnbuckles etc - just the tweaker lines (which I'll try to get a pic of today - but basically two lines to the headstay cleated back to create tension). Which means that I couldn't do as suggested and get rid of the headstays - there'd be nothing to tension with.

Does this seem to be a sound mast rigging? I'll upgrade to some adjustable shrouds or similar at some point, but is this OK for now?

2. Main sail rigging -
- I'm missing the triple ratchet block that should be there, and this seems to be the only real issue. I do have a (apparently) spare single ratchet block, so could probably work something (not ideal, I know) for light winds. I will get a triple ratchet, but before I do any other suggestions for the main sheet? If there are some improvements that can be made, or a better (or cheaper) opinion that will suit for a fun/learning cat I may as well do it now (or use until I've more cat experience).

(again, I'll try to edit this with some photos later - we've had really high winds here lately so backyard rigging has been impossible)

3. Jib rigging -
- I think I've mostly sorted out what I need here, and as I won't use it initially it can wait till last. As I need pretty much everything sheet wise (jib cars, bullet blocks, sheet itself - I have two main sheets and no jib sheet) again any suggestions on modifications or improvements I could make? If there is I may as well do it now.

Agreed, that'd be ideal - however I'm in New Zealand ;)

I can get everything new with little problems - but the cost is quite high, especially if I get it all at once. Used (or discounted) stuff is out there, but never when you need it.

I don't mind spending some cash, but for various reasons (check the other thread and you'll see why) I'd rather not spend too much more initially.
