I leave mine up all summer. It might be prudent to take it down if you are in the path of a serious typhoon.
In some ways metal is not as good as wood, it suffers from fatigue after being subjected to numerous load cycles. Cats are usually left on dry land, so don't experience the constant rocking that a moored boat would. I do slack off the shrouds & diamond wires a bit, but is just way easier to leave the stick up.
