Multiple questions on older P16

I took out my "new" old 1976 P16 yesterday for the first time. I have never sailed a Prindle 16 before but sailed a H16 for a couple of years about 7 years ago. I had 3 things that I was confused or concerned about. icon_confused

1. Mast rotation: The mast would fully rotate on a reach. Is this too far? If so what do I adjust to slow down rotation?

2. Does anyone have picture of how the boom/mast/mainsail/downhaul connection are supposed to be on a P16? Mine looks nothing like the manual.

3. My right rudder is very hard to kick up and will not break loose at shore. How do I adjust?

You have the old style boom gooseneck like a H-16. Probably have one cheek block on side of mast. Run downhaul from gooseneck to cheek block, back to gooseneck, then down to cleat. Then sheet mainsail in tight & downhaul again. Your mast: when you say fully rotate, are the stops worn so it's jumping the stops? Might need new mast base (Murrays.com). Rudder: jam inner 9/16 nut with a screwdriver, loosen outer 9/16 nut, then turn hook one full turn OUT. Tighten outer nut & try it (on Trailer). Opposite rotation for too loose rudder. Pete
Become very familiar with your rudder setup, can make the difference between a great day sailing or a miserable day. Rudder break-away tension is controlled by the rudder locking bolt located on the rudder itself, two small "ports" on rudder, 1 has the rudder locking bolt which is adjustable,

adjust bolt out as Pete says above, do this with boat on trailer, so you can adjust bolt untill break-away tension is satisfactory. Check by dropping rudder down into lock position, grab rudder from behind and pull untill it "breaks" free.

When you pull on the "rudder up" line, it lifts the lock bar that the locking bolt locks onto, located inside the rudder casing, check to see that this is operating correctly, check to see that entire rudder mechanism is operating correctly, springs not stretched, sheaves spaced correctly, up and down lines run correct, etc etc.

The mast rotates to the stop on a broad reach. Is it supposed to rotate that much on reach? I would understand when running.
