Question about sail numbers

Apart from racing ,where I understand the need for sail numbers, do they serve other purposes? I am going to get sail care to clean my sails and getting the numbers stitched on is extra. I have no plans to race my boat, and I am wondering if keeping the numbers is worth it.

no racing = no reason to keep them.

Down the road if you decide to race, you could use vinyl stickers

i've been pleased with my sails after the sail care treatment. i paid the 68$ to sew the numbers on...not sure why, but they are there. they look great and are pretty crisp...think i spent 425$ ...there were a handful of repairs too. thought it sounded high at the time but has been a good investment...a set of used sails wouldn't be in near as good shape.

Thanks bacho, nice to get a witness.

Bill, from the 3rd place finish I read about, the numbers were a good investment. I have reached that point in life where pulling Gs makes me wonder how long it will be till someone wearing wings offers me a beverage. I will pass on the numbers, but the graphics have me intrigued.

Once the wife gets comfortable in the new job, we got to fly into GPT. Us musical P-16 sailors got to tip one back.
