Nacra Inter 20 Jib Rigging

I would appreciate if a Inter 20 sailor could (hopefully with aid of pictures) show me the proper rigging of a Nacra Inter 20, self tacking jib.

How are your jib blocks mounted, on the spin pole or not?
Furler or not?

Ben,

Did you recently buy this boat? The first time to rig the self tacking jib can be confusing if you don't have someone showing it to you. Remember this is a two line setup. The confusion is probably on how to rig the line that attaches the clew reefed through the self tacking car. The jib sheet is pretty simple.

There are two basic ways to rig the self-tacking line before it attaches to the jib sheet, 2:1 or 3:1. Both work well and are easy to change around. Yours is probably set up one way or the other. We can help you but need more information. Where are you located and if you recently purchased the boat, who's boat?

@ Ron: Self tacking system. On spinni pole.

@ Philip: I am a H16 sailor and recently bought the N20. The boat was in fact rigged on trailer at my yacht club, and having seen Tigers etc being rigged often, it's not all "new" to me but I wanted to see how specifically the downhaul system is rigged.

You want to see how its rigged, specifically the down haul?

I think most who read the first post thought you were asking about only the self tacker. I will see if I can snap some pics for you later.

Downhaul on the jib, or the main? Ben, not clear what it is you want. There is no "specific" way to do it. There are several variations (downhaul) to achieve the same goal. On the main, the stock blocks allow you to rig it a couple of different ways, say 8:1 or 4:1 plus 2:1 cascade. N20 class rules limit the amount of purchase. If you are looking for help on how to downhaul the jib, there are copious ways to do it. Maybe someone at the club can help you if you let them know what it is you seek.

Thanks Philip. Specifically the jib, but I'll be patient until the boats previous owner is there sailing his F20 (so jealous). Btw, you asked where I was from before and I never answered. I'm from Johannesburg, South Africa.

Ben, welcome to TheBeachcats.com, location and experience info helps get you better help, someone might pop up on here who is also in Johannesburg.

In fact in the last 30 days we've had over a hundred people visit the site from South Africa, 43 from the Gauteng region. I know sailing is popular in SA but how much beachcat sailing is there?

Please see the FAQ and links in my signature to get started on the site.

In south Africa we have long summers and the crazy even test the waters in winter. We have very active fleets of which I would say Hobie 16 is by far the largest. Other multihulls are the Darts, some Halcat and Prindle and then my Inter and 3 x F20's. In terms of 18's there is a good sized fleet of Tigers and one or two Wildcats although there is much motivation in growing existing active fleets such as the H16's and Tigers, simply to make for more active regattas. We regularly have provincials and nationals, travel quite a bit to different venues and I'd say (bearing in mind SA is small compared to the US) anything from 15 boats at a small regatta to 40 odd at an important race.
