where to put spinaker patches???

hi guys,

I have a Hobie Tiger and a friend gave me a spinaker in great condition but a litle bit different.More specifically, the foot is a little bigger( 4,25m instead of 3,75m of the hobie spin) and the leach is 10cm shorter but this doesn't bother much. I have problems on where to put the patches so the spi can fit in the snuffer. The snuffer is 2m(maximum from fully back where the patched stop up to the front edge).I know that i must measure 2m from the tack and the clew for the bottom patch bit in this spinaker it is not enough(the foot is 4,25m).I ve tried once this sail(that now has 2 patches on)and the head was out at about 0,5m(logically the top patch must be 2,5m from head) but clew and tack were in.how is that possible when the bottom patch is more that 2m from them?I ve also heard that the spi in the snuffer is not streched so i ll need less distance than 2m to put the patces...is that true?Any good ideas? Will I have to cut it in the end...??
Here's a good post from catsailor re: the patches.

Thanks Yurdle but i have already seen it as i was searching for any sollution before posting...Someone says in this post that you can calculate about 10 inches less in the patch-clew/tack distance but then he takes it back and says 2.Anybody that knows it or has donw it before?
You could call me for a quick discussion on how to do this if you wish.

Hi Dave,
well I would prefer if you could describe it with a few words here or email me because I live in Greece, so a telephone call wouldn't be so cheap for me. except if we would talk on skype.and in this case we shoud arrange what time i ll call too because we must have at about 8-10h difference
