Hi, My name is Ryan. I am new to this site due to Hobie's site being very slow and inactive. A little about my sailing experience: I sailed a bunch of Hobie holder/hawk 12s while growing up, and a few times my brother and I had enough courage to try the Prindle 16? (i think it was). I sailed at Shaver Lake CA. I was self taught, and I showed enough knowledge to get hired as a sailing instructor at the lakes Boy Scout Camp. I did this for a while between school semesters. There I improved my sailing skills. Since then I have been into more motor boats than anything due to my job. I have mastered most kinds of motorboats and now I am instructing on them.
So your thinking: where does sailing come in with all this mumbo-jumbo?
Well that's the good part, I happened to be in San Diego for a Water Safety convention for work. My wife and I were sitting on the balcony of our room when I started pointing out different sailboats in the marina. At this point I decided that we must rent a sailboat so she can try it out.
We rented a Catalina Capri 18: She was hooked.
After sailing Mission Bay for a few hours we started talking about getting a boat.
