I've had great experiences with Uship.

I had a good experience with uShip, too, but I'm not too sure about shipping a mast through one of the Uship transporters. I have shipped several masts before with local freight companies. FedEx Freight and Old Dominion Freight were both great. I wrap masts in cardboard, put extra around any hardware that sticks out and tape the living daylights out of it. Shipping usually runs $300-350 and I drop the mast off at the terminal.
There are several people who have trailers to carry Kayaks and rowing shells cross country. I sent a mast and hulls from Calif to washington State.. Sent a mast back east as well.. Dont have a link but try google for shipping shells and other light but long boats.. I am sure that College teams use them for shipping their boats. A mast fits in at the base of the racks that hold the boats. The trailers are 30 to 35 feet long.. They are pulled by a pick up truck and are able to addapt to drop off needs !! Hal
