Music on the Cat (boat) waterproof

I know this has been discussed before. However The company I purchase my waterproof radio/stereo from is having a refurbished sale. I just picked up 2 of the ECOEXTREME radios (extras). These devices hold your smart phone inside them and they are WATERPROOF.

Basically you can buy them for $25 now normally $49.99 also I have a 20% off redeem code I got from my first order (8 months ago). Type feedback20 in promo code and it knocks off another 20%

Free shipping: my two cost only $40 (my first one 8 months ago $50 for one)

http://www.gracedigitalaudio.com/

go to the "refurbished" link

2 I purchased blue and green http://www.gracedigitalaudio.com/purchase-refurbished-grace-ecoxtreme

An no I do not have any affiliation with this company, just passing on a great deal to other sailors.

Sincerely

I second the endorsement of this product. I bought the small one and then upgraded to the larger one for better sound quality.
You can also use an IPOD if you don't have a smart phone. We really enjoyed having music on the boat when cruising all day. icon_smile

How is the volume on these? I have tried similar items in the past with mixed results since you couldn't hear over the water/boat noises. Looks like a great deal.

I found it surprising just how loud the water is -- you only notice once you try to play tunes out in the open. I just went back to headphones.

Just ordered the Eco Terra boom box, the Ecoextream, and the EcoxPro. It will be interesting to see if they can be heard. Probably a good chance when the women are out for a sail with us as they hate fast and hate fly'n. I splurged for the boom box figuring that that had the best chance when there's much wind and chop.

I have one of these :) when you can't hear it, you're hauling A$$...( thats the best music ).. When the wind slows and you hear it, its time to reach into the cooler and crack open a cold one. win win situation. Just make sure you have a couple good playlists playing..... You don't want to lose wind and hear " time in a bottle" icon_rolleyes

The small one does have distortion when it is turned all the way up, and only has the one small speaker. The boom box, with two speakers is much better. It also has an a/c cord in addition to the battery power so it can be used plugged in at a campground, hotel, etc.
I have been pretty pleased with the purchase.

I failed to mention I also purchased the big boom box 8 months ago. I have noticed sometimes if the volume is low it can be fixed by turning the volume all the way up on the I-pod/phone and when the batteries get low. I use all in salt water so I need to brush away corrosion on connections.

I have noticed a volume difference when using different input devices.

These are only radios that have held up to my abuse and salt water.

FYI: if you want to listen to radio you need to purchase a input device with FM capability.

Hope you all enjoy.

I was just looking at the other tunes thread the other day. I'm still thinking about making one of those home made setups with a pelican case, waterproof speaker(s), seal lead acid battery, and a cheap little T-amp.
2 of my sailing buddies have the ecoxbt waterproof / bluetooth

works well, pretty loud
Rybie job site radio in a dry bag... very loud (full volume is too much) and battery lasts all weekend.
i have been through at least 4 ryobies now.
I am done:
mono sucks, using the line-in creates a lower volume - not loud enough for me and i hate FM radio
and neither the batteries nor radios float (dont ask me how i know)

think i am gonna try 2 ecoxbt waterproof / bluetooth radios (for port and starboard tunage)

if i can get both to sink with my phone

HaHA, I didn't think of placing one on each side, Crap now I have 4 radios and cannot do what you are going to do??

Good idea. icon_lol

sure you can, use 1 ryobie on radio on each side OR get a stereo "Y" adapter at radioshack and feed 1 side to the port radio, and 1 to the sb

How does that thing work? Doesn't look to have any controls on the outside, how do you make or receive calls?
