Forum Complaint

Speaking for all new users to this forums, especially the ones that recently purchased a boat and now have stored it for the winter......................I...I mean we, need more posts to read. While I will be skiing soon, I....I mean we, still will need to live vicariously through those who can enjoy sailing year around. Come on, help us out here. We need some stories to get us through the off season.

Nice complaint!

Traffic does always fall off in the winter months, but no reason! All the time we have freed up not sailing should be put to good use here on the forums.

My boat is completely apart, except for the crossbars. BTW, anyone have a secret for freeing up that pesky screw at the bottom of my dolphin striker on my Prindle? It is the only fastener I can't get off.

Anyway........I have been slowly sanding the hulls, getting the buff back. I will spend the a couple of months pecking away at it. Then wax.

Sounds like global warming (excuse me, climate change) hasn't taken hold in Mississippi yet! icon_smile

i'm not complaining about a cool summer for sure but I would love one more month of sailing! thanksgiving is end of season for me(most years)..once it's cold, the fat lady sings and mardi grass preparations (liver conditioning) begin in earnest. some years I can get out as early as mid march. april/may and October/November are my favs...

I second pb blaster...maybe a slight smack or two and then onto the torch...then after you shear the head off, drill and tap! just kidding... the other thing you will run into is the ds rod seizing to the mast base making adjusting the tension impossible...new mast base is where I ended up, the aluminum threads were shot. if the ds rod/base/crossbar/ds strap are tensioned right(1/4" play in strap at midpoint) and the ds is seized up then don't touch anything! until your ready to spend a little cash icon_wink

There is no end of the season in Mississippi. I spent many New Years Days Sailing in Biloxi Bay.
It's about picking your days and having the right gear.

I have had so many 78 degree christmas days growing up...one of the best days I ever had on a boat was a gorgeous early February day fishing just south of the west end of petit bois island...no bugs, no sweat, crystal clear water, stunningly blue ski...and an ice chest full of beer and fish. my dad loved sailing in the winter the best(not on the cat thought). until I find a wetsuit shaped like basketball or i'm not shaped like a basketball...i'll be doing my drinkin' on shore this winter!
