Hi, Guys
In my search for affordable, heated working-space. I wasn't really
successful yet.
But I am constantly looking for goodies to improve my upcoming season.
First of all, I am not affiliated with the app developers in any way.
Just to make clear this is not an advertorial.
Second, this app is for android, sorry Iphone users.
Being slightly bored and frustrated with garmin stuff showing my speed
in large digits, I always wanted to know my heading aswel, to get my
lay-lines right on a slightly bigger lake.
So, saw this free app, TheFast Track and installed it on my smartphone.
Played around with it the last two fall trips, and yes it showed speed and
heading very well.
Took it out in the car and it showed speed and heading successfully.
So, went into the menu-section to discover its more than a display showing
what you want to see.
Its, actually, a low-profile navigation device, set up for racing.
Here's a Link https://play.google.com/s…autka.thefasttrack&hl=nl
I decided this is the app for me, so went on the market for a suitable
android-tablet, with long-life batterie time. Got this asus tf101.
Next to a macbook 15" I think it will be readable at the mast-base.
Were I plan to install it in a waterproof tablet-cover.
Then I discovered you could download charts into this app ad use them
for waypoint navigation.
Downloading charts is explained here.http://nautkaapps.wordpress.com
At the bottom of the page.
Using open sea-maps charts is just fine for our lake, maybe You guys can find a
way to convert Noaa charts into "tile" Format.
Had a great time just scrolling over the the screen, to get my lake stored in the
tablet in various "zoom" levels.
Here are some screenshots.
Warder is the place to be to cruise cats !!
