I'm wondering if anyone has any modification done to try to get the daggers more flush to the hull when sailing with them down. I sail with a crew and its in the perfect wrong location for sitting on the hull. Currently there is a 4-6" loop with a 1/2" or so rope tied through the hole at the top of the board so it doesn't fall through.

So this rope and about 3" of the top of dagger sits above the hull making an uncomfortable seating position, forcing to sit in front or behind it, which when behind gets pretty tight for space on the rear of the boat.

anyway just currious if anyone else has this problem or has done anything to help with it.

Unfortunately no. That is actually my main complaint with the 5.2 is that there isn't a lot of room for two adults. Between the jib blocks and wires and the daggers its pretty crowded. Also the reason why I love my 5.7 so much. I don't think there would be any viable way to get the daggerboards lower. The two methods of holding them in place count on there being board above the deck level for leverage.

Hmm, so just get rid of the boat lol. I crewed on a nacra 20 with spinnaker and a self tacking jib, and there was TONS of room. A "cadilac" as one would say, and its the truth compared to my 5.2. I was hoping someone had a idea or successful improvement to this. I'll just keep searching I guess.

Short answer, no you can't get the boards that low. One thing I have done with mine is put carpet at the top of the daggerboard well and ditched the forward bungee or side load bungee. Setup like that, there is plenty of room to sit. In light air, driver sits forward of the board and the crew sits in the same position to leeward. When there is enough wind to both be on the windward hull but not enough to trap, crew sits in front of the board and driver sits just behind. No big deal.

You could probably miminize the problem cutting (at your own risk..) the boards like this.
