Hi folks!
I am working on getting the mast on my prindle 19 in ship shape (haha, punny but not really.) while the hull is getting a patch after some damage from a large swell over the winter!

So here is what I've discovered; a fair amount of corrosion beneath the mast hinge plate (PS does that work for anyone? mine crumbled the first time we used it) and what appears to be a hole or fracture. Unfortunately the screw stripped and I haven't been able to pull it off yet to get a good look. I've also found a slight crack near the wishbone (see pics). my thought is to get those welded up? anyone have any suggestions? new masts are few and far between around here.

Here are my specific questions:
What material is the mast made out of (grade aluminum, etc.) and what would folks suggest be used as a filler? I will be having someone do the work, but want to know enough that its done right.

How do folks manage electrolysis corrosion?

I haven't seen nor heard of anyone doing anything to manage the galvanic corrosion on beach cats
I wondered about using a sacrificial anode in the past.. never moved on that idea. I still think of it from time to time (I just had a bow tang "expire" while underway... was kinda exciting in a bad way)

It can be done, BUT, it is not as simple as just sticking an anode somewhere.
If you look at an outboard motor, you will see thin bare wires connecting different parts. Those wires serve to ensure electrical continuity, throughout the engine, & to the anode.
If you don't have continuity to the anode, you risk diverting all the corrosion to a single part, (which my be something critical, & destroying it, while you think the anode is protecting everything), the current will take the path of least resistance.

Could the damage on the mast be filled in with some epoxy?

I've noticed one spot on my mast where something must've been stored against it and it caused a small divot like circle and I was going to just wire brush it clean and fill it in with some epoxy.
