Most tramp builder/suppliers sell 1/4" polyester double braid for lacing.
Robline is my favorite sheet stock, but pricey for a tramp (for me).
The key to getting your tramp tight is vice grips.
If you have side or center lacing, start at the front and move back.
Use a pair of vice grips to grab the line as it exits a grommet, to hold the tension while you move down a set of grommets.
For the back lacing, you need two pair of vice grips, (and start in the center if you can).
Work from the middle to both ends, using vice grips on either sides.
If you are re-tightening a tramp with old lacing line and it is stiff, soak it in clear water for a bit.
I have had to re-lace my tramp every other season.
If you have to replace the tramp, a bias cut is well worth the extra cash, if it is available for your cat.
