Prindle 18 Mast Step Installation

I found a better mast step on Ebay and bought it, it looks good, but the holes don't line up with my cross bars. Drill new holes in the cross bar, or live and learn and buy a new step from Murrays?

What size rivets should I be using?

When you put the dolphin striker rod in and drop it onto the bar, the new step fits the cross bar perfectly (the curve) however the four rivet holes are out of alignment, by a good amount. If I drill out the holes, they will all be out of round and I wonder if the rivet will even hold. Oh the new part looks good, but it's just not right.
Just drill some new holes in both the base and the beam and rivet those in place...

Or get one from Murray's that doesn't predrilled holes and start fresh

3/16 monel rivets chances were not likely that they would have lined up either way id just drill in a new spot with fresh hole a little away from old holes
