Another new guy

Hey everybody just thought in stop in and introduce myself. I just got a 1980 hobie 16 for $100 it has normal hull delamination of a neglected hobie, yet I'm still really excited I haven't been on a cat since I was 7 I'm 31 now. Ohhh my name is Tim and I'm stuck in Illinois good news is I'm not far from Carlyle lake. I've been lurking around this site for a couple years reading topics and ideas on what to look for in a beach cat and you all have been very helpful and I hope to be of some help in the future. I have some ideas about repairing hull delamination but I'll post that elsewhere. I have a wanted add up for some parts for my cat so if you have parts cheap check that out. Again thank you all for the information and help in the past and have a cat kind of day

Welcome Tim!

Definitely go meet the guys at Carlysle if you don't already know them.

How complete was your $100 Hobie 16? If you have delam don't try to invent a technique to repair it, there are tried and true methods and it's been discussed and documented many times. Ask specific questions and post photos if you can and you will get great info.

I'm missing the rope halyards, the sheets, the main block and the downhaul ( I think that's what it's called, the block at the front of the boom next to the mast to pull the sail tight on the mast) so far Ben from salt city sailing is hooking me up with a useable trampoline and the main block. But otherwise it's complete including a good trailer that I pulled 100 miles home with
