Nacra 5.8 main sheet 7:1 diagram, anyone….? Or picture..?

I have a new rope to install in my block that came with the boat that was definitely strung wrong. Cannot find any diagrams online. Can anyone share a pic? Thanks in advance.

The irony is that mine does not have the anchor loop below the top block. It only has it on the bottom.

You need to be able to tie off at the top block to go 7:1. If you have Harken Carbo blocks (like shown in the 3rd post of this thread), you can pass the end of the sheet through the center of the upper block and tie off with an 8 knot. Or if your boat has a boom, you can add another boom bale and tie off to that (but I believe the 5.8 is boomless). Otherwise you’re going to have to get creative because if you can only tie off to the lower block, the most you can get is 6:1 purchase.

Just so you can call things by the correct names:

QuoteI have a new rope to install in my block that came with the boat that was definitely strung wrong.

if it controls a sail it is called a sheet

you don't string blocks, you reeve them

Quoteanchor loop below the top block

you tie off to a becket (or a Strop if it is cloth)

Here is my main block with the original sheet, and I don't believe it is correct. I want to reeve the new sheet and cannot find a diagram anywhere.

I wish I had the becket at the top...But it is on the bottom, and the reverse of all the modern blocks I am finding, that have the becket in the middle and the small block out front.

UPDATE:
If anyone else performs an exhaustive search for this elusive, rare and undocumented 8:1 Mainsail block system, here is the correct method.

Picture makes all the difference - yep, your system is designed for 8:1, not 7:1.

I think the Nacra 5.7 7:1 is similar. In this case, the 7th turn is accomplished with a single block below the lower triple that leads to the cam cleats and fair lead for the main sheet. In my setup the sheet also acts as the traveler control.
