F18 Hobie Tiger - still good for regatta?

Hi all together,

I am considering to buy a relatively new Hobie Tiger (2009) in great condition. As I would like to get into (casual) regatta sailing I am wondering if a Tiger has chances against newer boats, like WIldcat, C2 and the likes. Maybe some of you can share experiences.

Thanks for you considerations and best greeting from Germany,

Andreas

Casual racing against other casual racers, yes. Against high end competition on the newest boats, I don't think you can be competitive.

I just went from a Tiger to a C2. In my opinion, the Tiger is excellent for casual racing. Yes, you can beat newer F18s if you out sail them. The Tiger is still a great light air F18. Dssaak is right, obviously not the boat for hardcore F18 class racing. But, you want to go fast, have fun and do some regional local racing, it is a great pick for the $.
