Hull Stain

I just purchased a 1982 Hobie 16 for my 50th birthday present to myself and I?m loving life! I just got it home and had to washer her up and make it look pretty. Well some bird must have really liked the way it looked and took a dump right on the port hall! The dang bird must have just dined on berries and now there is a stain. I have been scrubbing my butt off but nothing. I would sure appreciate any suggestions!

You might try a really fine rubbing compound but be really carful if you are using a buffing wheel you will burn or go through the gelcoat quick.

By the way -- Happy Birthday -- Great Present

Yacolt.
Oxylic Acid is your friend for stains and general cleanup and oxidation removal.

It can be found in the grocery store in powered form as Barkeepers Friend or in some toilet cleaning products.

Just disolve the powder with a small amount of water, brush on gently, let sit 10 minutes, and hose off.

Also FSR (fiberglass stain remover) works very well and is a little kinder to skin. can be found at west marine
Anyone have any thoughts on how to clean the plastic polyethelene hulls (like on Hobie Wave/Getaway)?
