We NEVER bring bottles on board, not even on the powerboats. At some point, you are going to break one, & Murphy says it will be in shallow water. Besides, they are hard on the teeth in bumpy conditions. All European,(imported) cans are 500ml, just crack the top half way. It s got to be REALLY rough before they spill, & they simply cannot come out of the cozy. If they do, youve got way bigger problems.
On the H18, with wings. I took the traps off, as no one used them, & the bungees just didnt work well strung over the wing tube. For that boat we used a bit of split tubing, at the appropriate height, held from sliding down by some wrappings of sail tape.
These cozy's are neoprene, wetsuit material, they come with the clip attached...I'm thinking a previous sailor solved his dilema.
