I have never used a squaretop sail, but don't they typically spill air off the top when the wind is really blowing? I remember hearing somewhere (no idea where) that is light to medium wind the square top really makes a difference but when it is really blowing the added sail area is not really a benefit since the top corner just rolls back and spills the air off. It made sense to me, and if that is the case in extreme conditions the squaretop wouldn't make that big a difference.[/quote]
