While that Oar Fish is extremely unusual and usually found dead, the beachcat sailors who have made the crossing have often encountered giant Sunfish (Mola Mola) which are a big hazard because of their size (the one in the picture on the right was 3,500 pounds) and the fact that they like to float near the surface.
