we have daily hurricanes! jk but yes, on the gulf side (tampa area) we usually get thunderstorms that start around 4 pm. they start inland when the eastern sea breeze and western collide and then march back to sea.
but with all the heat and humidity - they can happen at any time of day and they can get very serious quickly. I have been caught in a bunch of lightning storms (no fun with a 30' mast) and been in 40+knot wind.
