I'm very jealous, but on the other hand I sort of like a few months off for the holidays and to rethink/rebuild my boat. I always try to make it just a bit better/faster each season.
An idea: close your jib angle a bit in order to point higher, you can add a line from side to side, with two or three attachment points for the blocks, starting at the hiking strap and out. If you add fast shackles you can move the blocks easily, it also saves set-up time. Line has to be unstretchable
I think your footage is crisper than mine. My camera is the Garmin VIRB basic (the very first model they offered) which I purchased refurbished for $69. It specs. out at 1080 30fps max. resolution, but I have had better results at 720 60fps.. What model GOPRO do you have?
Good deal! Mine is a Hero 3+, if I remember well it is set up at 1080 60fps. It could be higher (4k) but that eats a lot of hard drive and needs a better machine than mine for editing. Then I edit at 720 60fps (I think..), which seems a good compromise for me so far, it fits under vimeo's weekly limit of 500mb and doesn't eat so much hd. 720 is good quality for video but not so good if you want to make a picture out of a video, that's why I record at a bit higher resolution.
Now that I have entered the additive realm of sailing videos I may have to bump my game up a notch on my action cam for next season too!!! What the hell, It's just money!@#$!@#!@#
Your video quality looks pretty decent to me, if you get a new one I would perhaps leave the old one there and add more angles. Or save for a drone... Variety is key I think. Adding some more context besides the sailing is nice too, I used to do that more, I was just checking some old videos: - 2011, on my old 5.0. Footage and edition by my cousing, a pro in such matters: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dYqxKUWXZtY - 2012., with an iphone3 in a bulky case. And the rest with a real machine, that was before the smarthpones era..
