Reply to: Need a new trailer

Hey Scott - what exactly are trailer components designed for saltwater? I've just been buying off-the-shelf stuff, considering it a necessary evil to throw away every 2-3 years. I'd love to be submerging in saltwater once or twice a week - that sounds like a goal, actually,
Heavily galvanized. The lug nuts are the first things that go. You've seen where I launch and the races I do. When I get home, I have a round sprinkler that I place under the boat and trailer (as well as the truck when I go to the beach) to wash everything well. Even when the boat and trailer gets rinsed from the top down, the underneath of the axle, arms and other components really don't get rinsed very well. There used to be a car wash in Texas City that had a boat/trailer washing station that had upward jets you can drive over to rinse the bottom. The springs are a coated steel, and those I spray with krylon to seal. Even when I go to the beach and use beach wheels to launch, I rinse the boat and trailer thoroughly when I get home.
