Nacra 5.8 / 6.0 Rudder System  Bottom

  • Anyone parting out a Nacra 5.8 /6.0 boat?
    Please PM me.
looking for complete rudder system for experimental
change out of my P19's cantankerous rudder setup.
  • I don't have a complete setup but I do have rudders and castings. . . and for those looking for daggerboards, I have several of those.

Oh and two immediate things to buy if yo uhaven't already:
http://www.murrays.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=01-2061&Category_Code=C-RC&Store_Code=MS To stiffen up your helm control and make it easier on you.

http://www.murr...tore_Code=MS To take any slop out of your rudders and castings!

  • Ok...nevermind the Nacra system....it has proved to be
unworkable on my boat, blades too short.

Now looking for a Hobie 20/21 complete rudder system.

    Hi Phillip:

I might be interested in those rudders and castings for my 6.0. Let me know what you ae needing to get for them.

    Thanks,

    Kevin-
  • Ok, having done some more research....you can't have enough ;)
I am looking for a complete, gudeons back, rudder system from one of
the following boats, in order of preference:

    Inter 20
    Nacra 20 (Not 6.0)
    Inter F18
    Nacra 580 (Not 5.8)
    Hobie 21SE
    Hobie 20

I know its a long shot that anyone would be parting out such
a young boat ... but hope springs eternal.

Even if you only have pieces and parts please let me know.
I might be able to put your stuff with someone elses stuff
    and make a whole system.

    Thanks Y'all

  • Hey Butch, what part of the country do you live?
There is a H18 & H21 on the Houston craigslist.

  • LOL I can just see my wifes face if I brought these home.

hmmm...maybe that wouldn't be so funny.....

  • Butch, I came upon a company that produces complete rudder systems.

  • Butch
I have just purchased a 1986 P19 with the old rudder system and have been thinking about changing out the rudder system for a Nacra system. I have a Nacra 5.2 and would agree that the rudder blades for the 5.2 are 32" long and would be to short. I have a spare set of castings and a set of 5.8 blades that are 35" long that I mounted on the P19 and just looking at it I would think that it may work. The surface area of blade that is below the bottom of the transom is close to the P19 rudders. The angle of the transom on the P19 is not as great as the Nacra so when the rudders are pulled down and stop against the castings the leading edge of the blade tucks under the hull. I am thinking of placing an adjustable stop at the bottom of the casting so the rake of the rudder can be adjusted. Have you heard of any one else doing this and did they have any success
  • if you have nacra castings there is probably already a threaded hole for a rake screw in them, then all you would have to do is buy the screw

I looked at these very closely...a little on the heavy and short side.
If I remember right they are several pounds (3 to 4?) heavier and
the blades for a P19 are 35' (approx) long.

xs169, what erice said. There should be a threaded hole for rudder rake already
on the casting. Gen3 Blades for 5.8 and up Nacra boats are 39" long.
These are the blades that I am looking for. Currently, I have
info on a complete used rudder assembly (LH & RH w/crossbar) for
    around $1000usd.
