I believe that she is a Swift, but I'm having trouble finding anything on the web about her.
I know that she was of English design, and was built in the mid to late 60's from a kit. She is all wood, with plywood hulls. She was originally equipped with a wooden mast and boom, but that was later replaced with an aluminum set.
She is 14.5' long, and has a jib.
I would appreciate any help, and especially any pointers to owners groups of any sort. We are looking for a loving home for her...
In Northern California. This boat (hand built by my father), is looking for a good home. We would like to donate her to an organization that will use her to teach, or to an individual with a demonstrated love for special boats...
It caught my attention because I have two varnished wood Tornados (one of which I race here on Big Bear Lake near San Bernadino. The picture looked like our lake! We have a junior program in P-16's that I look after because they are so perfect for teenagers. Pete
looks like it's a swift built by the uk prout bros. who also built the shearwater and cougar cat
In 1948, the Prout Brothers, Roland and Francis, in the UK joined two canvas canoes together, mounted a sail on the contraption, and blasted through their mono-hull competition. This led to the production of a series of Shearwater catamarans that wowed the sailing world with their astounding speed. From 1958-65, G. Prout and Sons produced a derivative design called the Cougar Cat, a 19-foot LOA wooden sloop with a 25-foot mast. The Cougar O/D became particularly successful in the United States at a time when Hobie Alter was still building surfboards in his father?s garage.

Roy.
Will have a word with Francis Prout to see if we can locate plans for the Swift. Will have a look at my collection of photos to see if there are any of a Swift that could help. Good luck with the restoration.

Roy,
So far have been unable to locate any SWIFTY plans, sorry.
It's a Thrifty Cat, there's a build kit for this boat on ebay under Hobie Cat.
