looks like ther perfect horn island day, light chop, w/sw winds around 10-12kts. might even run across some free oil. useualy they charge for it but they have a promotion going on right now so its free! you can suck up and refine all you want, very generous those folks at bp.

Went there yesterday coastrat, thanks for the hook up. It was steady 8-10 all day. I did find that putting it back on the trailer at low tide was a witch.

made horn after going through maze of oil booms out of biloxi bay. awesome day, winds steady out of w/sw good 10-12kts til 2pm then 14-18. came back by the light house at warp speed. hated to leave, winds still blowing. tides have been real low lately, not so bad for my 16 but could be work for a bigger boat for sure. we have gotten stuck a time or two loading out, sand was wet today so no problems. counted 24 big shrimp boats at west end of horn today anchored up, my buddy said they were "skimming" for oil, i was hoping they were fishing. saw no oil all day.

Is the Horn an out n back day trip or can you camp overnight? Looks like a great sail ... 'bout 12 miles?
I'd be using an H18 n judging from coastrat's pic at the top that's about my style!! I'm little long in the tooth to be hangin' with Andrewscott's "gear".

horn is an easy day sail(around 2hrs.each way depn on wind) and yes you can camp there! its about 13 miles long so plenty big. from the secret spot we will do horn or ship depending on the wind direction(ese-ship, wsw-horn, s-biloxi bay/biloxi beach). come on down and join the secret fleet(o segredo frota)! good times...
