Three months ago Sarah and I were sailing Thunderpussy, our Mystere 6.0 when the dogbone slipped out of my hand and whapped her in the skull. Needless to say, she was anything but pleased and proceeded to call me everything but a white man. In an instant I knew a better alternative needed to emerge with swiftness in order to keep a happy crew.
So I came up with this - it's an 8" loop of 4mm Amsteel (red) wrapped in clear plastic tubing. You can get both the line and tube here for cheap - http://www.apsltd.com/c-1…-AmSteelBlue-Samson.aspx Total cost was $25 shipped.
Been using this system for several months now and it works flawlessly! It hooks nicely on the harness, never comes undone, and crews love it. Check out the pics (and the chicks!).
Adios stainless dogbones!

Hmmm. I don't see the new system. Nor the boat.

Now you just hit in the head with the metal cleat used for trap adjustments.
Don't ask me how I know? -
