We're long overdue for tunes on the Mystere. After seeing my good friend Andrew burn through 10 or so portable Walmart radios stuffed in a drybag (in the last 3 years) I've decided that's definitely not the way to go. So I'm looking to the forum's help for ideas. I'd like a music system that does the following:
- Connects to an ipod shuffle
- Has a remote because I'm musically ADD
- Is waterproof and will last more than a season
Dave's H21 is the way to go!
dry cell in the hatch, speakers on the spreaders facing down (not sure 10lbs bose are the way to go), subwoofer facing back
illuminated dragon on your front tramp
lights above and below the waterline....
Oh, Murray's sells waterproof headphones and MP3 cases. So does H20 Audio. Several of my friends who are into swimming use SWimp3 headphones that actually conduct the sound through the bones just in front of your ear. Apparently the sound quality of these varies from person to person though.

mine works great. its lacking bass, which is understandable, but i can actually toss it in the ocean and it keeps pumping floating alongside the cat. I keep the remote in a drybag necklace. it goes longer than i do on a set of batteries.. and gets plenty loud.
I throw a http://www.kiwichoice.com/portable-chargers/kiwi-u-powered
in the box to keep my phone powered because i also use it to log my gps coordinates and that drains the battery.

Yeah. it only goes ~10ft once its in the box, but my tramp isnt any bigger than that ;) I actually have an older model of the air click i found at my work so ymmv!
edit: also should mention that i tried it initially with some 20$ marine speakers from the place listed, thinking that the ocean would destroy them and thusly everything inside. Fortunately they held up perfectly (from what i can see) and so im ordering some higher quality marine speakers. ill post some pics of the reconstruction when they get in if anyone is interested.
ps boots/shoes are required with all the shells around our islands. that is a real soft beach.. with hidden dangers (i have done a firemans carry to get a skipper off the island after gashing his foot)

So I just made one of these and it works great. One change I did, was to use a Monster remote control, http://www.monstercable.com/productdisplay.asp?pin=3714
Mainly because it's naturally water resistant but it did take a bit of filing of the headset plug to get the headset plug in the jack.
I used a pelican 1400 case with two 5" round speakers mounted on the lid. The whole things works as advertised. It's really cool.
