I am having a new line with 2 splices for small blocks made for my jib sheet (like original...see image). Question, is there an upgrade/modification to the jib sheet on the Nacra 5.2 that I should be considering? Do people replace the d shackle that hooks to the clew with some sort of clip for easier set-up? etc?

I actually just tie my blocks onto the clew line, but a splice is nice! I use a stainless marine carabiner to attach to the clew of my jib.
The next upgrade you should consider is placing the jib block wires under the tramp. Makes for a much cleaner trampoline. Here is what mine looks like, I use pure vectran line instead of wire for these.

Dave,
I do like your tramp set up with the wires under the tramp. However, I am worried about the integrity of my old tramp and cutting into it. Also after looking at your pic, can you tell me if your tramp came with the hiking straps or did you add them and what is the distance from the inside of a hull to the straps? thx.

Gray,
Yeah, that is one reason I switched to a Vectran line instead of wire. It works really well! 5/16" Sta set would work but I didn't want to have to retighten it all the time. I also put brass grommets in the tramp.
The tramp came with the hiking straps but they would be pretty easy to add using some webbing and whipping twine to sew them in. I don't have an exact measurement but I believe they are about 18" inside the hull. Exact position isn't that important. I would customize it for you basically measure from the bottom of your butt to the middle of your shin bone and that is the distance from the outside of the hull to the strap. That would give a decent amount of movement and let you scootch off the hull to hike.
Oooh those soft shackles are sweet!

I used one of those shackles for a while but I found if the jib was flapping loose for any time (which it shouldn't I know) it would unclip itself.
I have the first blocks on my boat right now and have had the same issue. I'm going to get some of those swivel blocks!!

I had forgotten about that, roller furling solved that problem.

Update/advice:
The rigging shop is not done with my splice and I want to sail this weekend. How would the experts here rig their jib without the jib pigtail/blocks? I dont have any extra blocks.

If you have some extra line you could tie two loops onto the jib and run your jib sheets through the loops. The loops would do the job of the pigtail/bullet-blocks in a pinch. Lots of extra friction and they would probably wear out quick but it might get you sailing this weekend if the wind isn't too big.
